WORCESTER, Mass. - Worcester Polytechnic Institute students will remember the city's six fallen firefighters on Sunday, Dec. 3, the anniversary of the warehouse fire tragedy.
"We will be meeting on the WPI Quad at 1 p.m. on Sunday," said organizer Michael E. Weber. "From there we will be walking down to the Worcester Fire Department headquarters at 141 Grove St., and delivering flowers." The Quad is located in the center of the WPI campus, 100 Institute Road, Worcester, Mass.
Weber is a senator with the WPI Student Government Association and a member of fraternity Lambda Chi Alpha. A senior from Niantic, Conn., he extends an open invitation to join WPI students in remembering Worcester's firefighters. Along the walk back, members of WPI's Lambda Chi Alpha and sorority Phi Sigma Sigma will hold an open house at Lambda Chi Alpha, at 30 Dean St., offering hot apple cider and a chance to talk for all who are interested.
"It's just a small token from WPI to say thank you for all you do to the firefighters," Weber said.
