Fund-raiser to benefit American Cancer Society research efforts
Worcester Polytechnic Institute's (WPI) Greek and other social, athletic, and academic groups have organized the university's first Relay For Life, which is the American Cancer Society's (ACS) signature fundraising activity. It is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for ACS research and programs.
Teams made up of students, fraternity and sorority members, athletes, and university employees will camp out on WPI's Alumni Field and take turns walking or running around the track. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Relays are 12-24 hours in length. WPI team members have so far raised $27,835 for the fund-raiser by asking friends, relatives, and businesses for donations.
