WPI to Hold Symposium on Physiological Monitoring on Feb. 21

Presented by the WPI Bioengineering Institute, the symposium will cover a wide spectrum of technologies, with an emphasis diabetes and the major complications resulting from diabetes, which together require multiple monitoring technologies and methods.

What:

Presented by the WPI (Worcester Polytechnic Institute) Bioengineering Institute, the symposium will cover a wide spectrum of technologies, including optical, electrochemical, electromagnetic, ultrasonic, and physical methods such as pressure and temperature. The aim is to identify the research needs of both the clinic and industry. The emphasis will be on diabetes and the major complications resulting from diabetes, which together require multiple monitoring technologies and methods.

The symposium will feature experts in the fields of diabetes, monitoring technologies, and metabolism. It will cover

  • monitoring requirements for diabetes and its complications.
  • translating diabetes research into the clinic.
  • spectroscopic methods to monitor physiology.
  • microfluidic platforms for analyte monitoring.
  • applications of optics to biomedicine
  • ultrasound imaging.
