WPI to Host 54th Worcester Regional Science & Engineering Fair on March 13
WPI will host the 54th Worcester Regional Science & Engineering Fair, one of six regional science fairs in Massachusetts, on Friday, March 13, in the Campus Center Odeum. The fair is open to the public from 1:30 to 4:45 p.m.; the awards ceremony begins at 5 p.m.
High School Students From Throughout Central Massachusetts Will Compete for Thousands of Dollars in Awards and Prizes
What
Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) will host the 54th Worcester Regional Science & Engineering Fair, one of six regional science fairs that culminate in the annual Massachusetts State High School Science & Engineering Fair.
As they have for more than a half century, senior high school students from throughout Central Massachusetts have put their minds to developing research-based science projects and will now compete for several thousand dollars in awards and prizes. Local scientists, engineers, and medical professionals will volunteer as judges for the competition, and the event is sponsored by local clubs, businesses, colleges, corporations, professional organizations, and individuals.
In addition to the competition, Mark Turnbull, professor of chemistry at Clark University, will deliver a talk titled, "Nontraditional Careers in Science: What to Do When You Love Science, But Can't Stand the Bench!"

Friday, March 13, 2009, from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The fair is open to the public 1:30 to 4:45 p.m.; judging takes place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the awards ceremony begins at 5 p.m.
