The College Board recently issued a report on the results of the SAT tests taken this spring by high-school seniors across the nation. The report spotlights the public high schools with the highest SAT scores. Massachusetts is one of the highest-scoring states nationwide, taking eight of the top 10 spots and 17 of the top 25 on a list reflecting combined scores. The Massachusetts Academy of Mathematics and Science, affiliated with Worcester Polytechnic Institute, came in at the top of the state's list.
A perfect SAT score, 2,400, is achieved by getting an 800 on each of the three sections: critical reading, math, and writing. Nationally, Massachusetts ranked first in math and second in reading and writing. Within the state, the Mass Academy boasted the highest scores in all three categories.
