Award-Winning Author Akhil Sharma to give Lecture and Reading from his Newest Novel, Family Life, on Thursday, January 29

Who/What

Acclaimed author Akhil Sharma will give a reading from his latest novel, Family Life, which was named one of the 10 Best Books of 2014 by The New York Times and New York Magazine. Sharma will also give a lecture and participate in a Q&A session.

In addition to Family Life, Sharma has also authored An Obedient Father (2000), which won the PEN/Hemingway Award and was named a New York Times Notable Book of the Year. His writing has appeared in The New Yorker, The Atlantic, "Best American Short Stories," and "The O. Henry Award Winners."

Born in Delhi, India, in 1971, Sharma immigrated to the United States in 1979. He lives in New York City and is an assistant professor of English in the MFA program at Rutgers University, Newark.

This event, is free and open to the public, made possible by the Humanities & Arts Department at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and the English Department at Worcester State University.
