First Years

Welcome to the Office of Academic Advising at WPI! As you plan for your first year, it is recommended that you visit our Designs website, where you can learn more about the WPI curriculum, registration, and courses that are specifically designed for first-year students.

Once you arrive on campus for New Student Orientation (NSO), you will meet your Insight team, which consists of a Faculty Advisor, Community Advisor, and a Resident Advisor. These people are available to support you and answer any questions you may have during your first semester at WPI.

At the end of B term, you will be assigned a Faculty Advisor in your major. As an expert in your field of interest, this individual will serve as the primary advisor for the remainder of your time at WPI. If you are undecided about your major, the Office of Academic Advising has resources to help you explore your options and interests. Please contact Academic Advising for more information.

The Office of Academic Advising also oversees the Academic Resources Center, which is the home of MASH, tutoring, and Peer Academic Coaching. Please see our Events page for additional events and programs.

Lastly, the Office of Academic Advising wishes you a great first year at WPI! We encourage you to take advantage of the many campus resources that exist to help you succeed in college and beyond. If you have additional questions please contact our office or schedule an appointment with an advisor at
