Entrepreneurship is mindset and an ability that can be learned...
In the right environment and with the right attitude, entrepreneurship skills can be learned. The Collaborative for Entrepreneurship & Innovation (CEI) serves those in the WPI community interested in creating new products, services, and technologies; technology-based businesses or social ventures; and those simply seeking the entrepreneurial mindset. WPI students inherently acquire an entrepreneurial mindset immersed in WPI's academic and cultural diversity. The CEI fosters this mindset further through its extra-curricular programs, competitions, resources, mentoring, advising, and networking opportunities. Opportunities to further develop entrepreneurial abilities exist by participation in competitions and by accessing our wide network of entrepreneurs interested in being a sounding board for technology ideas, mentoring, and/or placing students in technology product oriented internships.
An entrepreneurship minor and several undergraduate and graduate entrepreneurship and innovation courses are offered through the School of Business. As entrepreneurship spreads across the curriculum, other schools within WPI will offer courses, activities, and modules. Our programs were recognized in 2005 by Entrepreneur Magazine's TechknowledgePoint survey of entrepreneurial schools by ranking us in the Top Ten highest among the nation's schools with an Entrepreneurship Emphasis.
We welcome our faculty, students, and alumni to discuss, in strict confidence, ideas for new technology-based businesses, products, services, and processes or social ventures. We may provide services based upon your unique needs or suggest mentors, programs, or resources to help you move forward. (While some programs are open to the public, the CEI is a member of a regional business resource alliance, so we may refer public inquiry to one or more of the many alliance organizations.)
