Open Enrollment

The annual Open Enrollment period for group medical and dental plans, flexible spending accounts, pre-paid legal and vision plans is October 1 to October 31, 2014. Elections will be effective January 1, 2015 - December 31, 2015.

The decision to change to a calendar year was made to benefit employees who will now have their benefits coincide with the tax year. For example FSA plan year limits will now be in line with federal yearly maximums. Annual deductibles for Health Insurance are now in line with Harvard’s calendar year tracking of the deductibles therefore, one deductible per plan/calendar year. Dental annual maximums will also be aligned.

This Open Enrollment there will be plan design changes. The health insurance plan previously known as the 20A plan will no longer be offered. We will now be offering a high deductible plan with an option to elect an HSA. For those interested in enrolling in the high deductible plan, WPI will be contributing $500 to an individual HSA and $1,000 to a family HSA. We will also be offering a limited purpose FSA for only those who are electing an HSA. A limited purpose FSA is for vision and dental expenses only. All other health plan options will remain the same.

Our new FSA and HSA provider will be Benefit Strategies.

Due to an overall decrease in premiums, WPI has decided to keep their contributions to the health plans the same and pass on the savings in premiums to our employees. Changes to plan designs and plan offering can be found on the Health Insurance Matrix below.
