Job Description: Undergraduate Research in Surface Metrology There are multiple undergraduate research positions available in the Surface Metrology Laboratory. Students with federal funding can get paid, others can volunteer. Join a lab at WPI that has developed breakthrough technologies used in laboratories around the world. Assist in research and in running the lab, and help to run an international conference at WPI (25-27 October www.surfacemetrology.org). The work can lead to co-authoring scientific and technical publications and will help to build resumes and recommendations for grad school and jobs. The Surface Metrology Lab is dedicated to measuring and understanding surface roughness, or texture, how roughness is created, and the influence of roughness on performance. The lab has advanced equipment and software for the measurement and analysis and analysis of surface textures. Students will have the opportunity to use and help maintain this equipment. The lab also collaborates with other industrial and academic laboratories around the world and can provide international project opportunities.
