Jon Bartelson, '01
- Associate CIO
Jon is directly responsible for the strategy, implementation, maintenance, and support of WPI's hosted and client services infrastructure, including effective IT service delivery. He leads an exceptional team of systems administrators and customer service experts to ensure that the university's IT services are of the highest quality. Jon also works directly with the CIO and senior IT leadership on strategic and budget planning, and to foster collaboration across all IT service providers.
Jon holds a BS in computer science from WPI, an MBA from Bentley University, and a JD from Suffolk University Law School. He is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, the American Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association, and the Worcester County Bar Association.

- Senior Database Administrator
Roger is responsible for Oracle database maintenance, support, and overall strategy, including security and upgrade road maps. He works to ensure that IT is providing highly available database systems that perform at a high level to support university operations and business intelligence activities. Roger also provides input to budget decisions and works with senior IT management to provide infrastructure support for strategic initiatives.
Gordon Library, Helpdesk
- Associate Director, IT Service & Support
Marie is responsible for all IT service and support functions. She provides leadership to the Technology Helpdesk, Desktop Support and Content, Communications, and Training groups, working with area supervisors to define support services strategy, ensure operational efficiency, and oversee continuous improvement efforts. Her talented team of IT support professionals and student staff are committed to effective service delivery, customer service excellence, and productivity enablement of the campus community through effective use of technology.
Marie holds a BA in mathematics (with minors in computer science and French). She holds the following certifications: Project Management (WPI CPE, 2012), Management Series I & II (COWC, 2009 - 2012), and Helpdesk Manager (HDI). Her commitment to leading effectively has been informed by completion of: Leadership Development program (CCL, 2012), SDI program (Personal Strengths, 2011), and the WPI Leadership Development Institute (2010-2012). Marie is the president of the HDI New England chapter, involved with the itSMf Higher Education LIG, and a SIGMaster for NERComp.
- Assistant Director, Enterprise Solutions
Sue is responsible for the development, implementation, and support of academic and administrative systems. She works closely with the University’s UDC Governance, division leaders and Information Analysts to ensure collaboration between IT and the broader WPI user community. Sue oversees the Enterprise Solutions Team of analysts and programmers, who work to provide quality solutions for the University’s business requirements.
Sue holds a Bachelor’s in Science degree from the University of Vermont.

Thomas L. Collins III, ‘01
- Assistant Director of Hosting Services
Thomas is responsible for the day-to-day management of WPI’s hosted and client services infrastructure. These services include Blackboard Course Management (myWPI), Banner ERP, computer labs, academic software, Exchange Mail, SharePoint, central storage, and various lines of business applications. He leads an exceptional team of systems administrators to ensure that the university's IT services are of the highest quality. Thomas works with his fellow IT managers to help plan short- and long-term goals, and to increase collaboration across all IT service providers.
Thomas holds a BS in management and information systems from WPI. He is a member and chapter advisor of Alpha Chi Rho national fraternity, and the advisor for VOX, WPI’s musical theatre group.
