Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender

WPI is committed to providing support services for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, and additional non-traditionally recognized populations –the ‘+’ symbolizes additional sexual and gender identities that have traditionally been left out of ‘LGBTQ.’ We use the ‘+’ to respectfully and sensitively recognize all populations in our community. To-date, we have an active student group: The Alliance, whereby members lend support, put on events, and in The Office of Multicultural Affairs’ OASIS Cultural Center, we are building a resource library.

WPI's GLBT community was administratively founded in 1988 and was organized to provide a necessary voice and body for the students of all sexual orientations and gender identities.

WPI's evolved LGBTQ+ Community, recently renamed "The Alliance", offers social, educational, and a support network for the WPI community that including meetings, educational and social events, partnerships and networking with similar organizations.

Transgender WPI student, Pat Rowan, 19, whom goes by ‘Rowan’, President of The Alliance student group, leads the groups effort to broaden its reach to support more people on campus with different sexual orientations and gender identities.  Read Worcester Telegram & Gazettes article on his efforts at:
