STEM Outreach Program
Explore and experience science, math, technology and engineering (STEM) the college way.
The high-tech world is lacking a diverse workforce, and leaders in industry, government and academia are looking at our ever-changing global economy to place students of color STEM occupations.
The WPI STEM Outreach program is an after school educational program for African American, Latino, American Indian and other high school students of color in grades 10, 11, or 12 from Worcester Public and Charter schools interested in science, technology, engineering and math. The program aims to strengthen these students’ skills and abilities in the STEM fields, while increasing their likelihood of pursuing further education in these areas after high school graduation.
The program will meet for the 2014-2015 academic year on Wednesdays from 4:00-6:00pm on the WPI campus on the following dates:
- November 5th and 19th
- December 3rd and 17th
- January 7th and 21st
- Febuary 4th and 25th
- March 11th and 25th
The cost of the program is $50, which includes snacks and materials for the hands-on activities with WPI student instructors and professional faculty and staff. For more information about the program, please contact Quontay Turner, Outreach Coordinator for Diversity Programs, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 508-831-4885.
