Is your student interested in science? Does she love math? Does she want to build a skyscraper or participate in a lab dissection? If she answers yes to any of these questions, or has a general interest in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields, Tech Girls is an excellent after-school program for her!
Tech Girls is a WPI outreach program that encourages girls to pursue study and a career in the STEM fields by exposing them to many different fields of science and engineering along with a wealth of positive female role models. During each session, WPI students, faculty, and staff facilitate a wide variety of hands-on activities that promote creativity, problem solving, and teamwork in middle school girls.
The Tech Girls program is open to girls in grades 6-8 and runs from October to April. The sessions take place on Wednesdays from 4:00-6:00pm on the WPI campus. The cost of the program is $150, which includes snacks and materials for the hands-on activities. Financial assistance is available. For more information about the program, please contact Julia Sorcinelli, Outreach Coordinator for Women's Programs, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 508-831-5819.
