Saturday, February 4, 2012 at approximately 1:27 AM

Accosting:  A female student was accosted by a male as she walked from Wachusett St., along Highland St. to Boynton St. / Elbridge St. vicinity. The student had left a Wachusett St. residence and was walking along the described route. On Highland St., a male approached her, grabbed her by the arm and began to have conversation. The student pulled away and continued to walk as the male followed her to the area of Boynton St. and Elbridge St. where he stopped following her.  

Suspect Description: Black male, approximate age 21, height 5-5, thin build, clean shaven, wearing a dark grey hoodie sweat shirt, jeans.

Monday December 26, 2011 Approximately 10:30 PM

Armed Robbery:  WPI Campus Police learned today (January 12, 2012) that the Worcester Police Department is investigating an armed robbery which took place on December 26, 2011 at the Mobil Station at 185 Park Avenue.  A male approached the locked front door of the Mobil Station and pointed a firearm towards the clerk inside through the window. The male suspect forced the clerk to open the front door. The suspect then entered the building and demanded cash. After receiving cash, the suspect fled the scene towards the backside of the building near Dover St.         

Suspect Description: White male, late 20’s to early 30’s, height: 5-6, medium build, wearing dark colored hooded sweatshirt that was pulled over his head, blue jeans, white sneakers.

Wednesday January 11, 2012 Approximately 11:11 PM

Armed Robbery:  At approximately 11:11 PM, a student attempting to enter Daniels Hall through the lower door was confronted by a male who robbed the student of his personal possessions. The suspect had approached the student from behind, touched the student’s neck with his hand and possibly with a knife while demanding the student’s personal possessions. The student gave the suspect his wallet and I phone. The suspect was wearing a bandana over his nose and mouth.  The suspect immediately fled on foot on Institute Rd. towards the West St. direction. The student was not injured.     

 The student first noticed the suspect walking on Prescott St. after parking his car in the Gateway Garage. As the student walked back to Daniels Hall, he noticed the suspect again walking behind him on Boynton St. near Founders Hall. The next time the suspect was observed was during the robbery at the lower Daniels Hall entrance between Riley Hall and Daniels Hall.  

Suspect Description: White or Hispanic male, approximately 18 YOA, height:5-7, weight: 150 lbs., wearing dark clothing: black hoodie with flap pockets on front, blue jeans, purple canvass sneakers with bright white soles.

Alleged Sexual Assault – WPI Campus Police has learned that the Worcester Police Department is investigating a report of alleged sexual assault that occurred on Friday, December 16, 2011 at 63-65 Wachusett St, an off-campus location.

Saturday December 10, 2011 Approximately 9:00 PM

Assault:  At approximately 9:00 PM, a resident of a Dean Street Fraternity House opened the front door in response to somebody knocking. As the brother opened the door, 5-6 black males rushed in and began assaulting the brother and several other brothers who came to the assist with the unknown suspects. Four to five suspects immediately fled from the house possibly towards Salisbury St. The brother were able to subdue one suspect until the suspect was placed under arrest by the WPI and Worcester Police. No weapons were involved in the incident.        

Suspects (6) Descriptions:Black males with varied clothing including jeans and hoodies.

Saturday November 19, 2011 at approximately 11:05 PM

Robbery and Assault:  At approximately 11:05 PM, two students were waiting for a SNAP pickup at Institute Rd. and West St. The students noticed two males sitting on a bench on Institute Rd. near the intersection, a third male was also present but standing. The males approached the students. One suspect pushed a student to the ground and unsuccessfully attempted to take the student’s purse. The second suspect took the second student’s purse. All three suspects immediately fled on foot several hundred feet south on West Street where they got into a dark colored sedan and sped away across Highland St. no weapons involved.

Suspects (3) Descriptions: White male, Black male, third male unknown race, ages unknown.One male was wearing a blue sweatshirt and baseball cap. No further descriptions.

Approximately 8:00 PM

Armed Robbery:  At approximately 8:00 PM, two students had just got into a parked car on Hackfeld Rd. near Highland St. when they were approached by four males suspects. The suspects opened the car’s doors, ordered the students from the car, demanded money and punched one student in the face, causing a minor injury. The other student was forced to remain face down on the street. The suspects took personal property from both students. One student reported a suspect pointed a hand gun at him. The suspects fled on foot on Highland St towards the Price Chopper Market.  

Worcester Police and WPI Police were assisted on scene by a Massachusetts State Police K-9 unit.  

Suspects (4) Descriptions: White males, age unknown, wearing varied hoodies (each had a different colors: gray, black, blue) sweatpants and jeans.

Friday October 7, 2011 at approximately 3:20 AM

Attempted Unarmed Robbery:  At approximately 3:20 AM, a student was walking on Dix St. near the corner of Denny St. when he was approached by a Hispanic male. The suspect demanded cash from the student however the student fled without further contact with the suspect. The student was unharmed, no theft occurred and no weapon was displayed by the suspect.  

Suspect’s Description:  Male, Hispanic, early 20’s, 5’10, 160 lbs., wearing a Red Sox cap on backwards, dark jacket and dark jeans.

Saturday August 27, 2011 at approximately 11:12 PM

Armed Robbery:  At approximately 11:12 PM, three students were walking on Dayton St when they were approached from behind by two suspects, one a white male the other a black male. The white male held a knife to one student’s side and demanded everything they had. Cash was taken from one student. No injuries. The suspects fled by running along Dayton St. to Fruit St. where they fled the area in a four door vehicle.  

Suspect’s Description:  #1: White Male, early 20’s, 6-2, skinny, wearing striped shirt, armed with a folding type knife. #2: Black Male, early 20’s, 5-4 to 5-6, short hair, muscular build, wearing black tank top and armed with a baseball bat.

Saturday August 27, 2011 at approximately 8:45 PM

Armed Robbery:  At approximately 8:45 PM, a student was walking on the sidewalk near 21 Elbridge St. when he was confronted from behind by a black male. The male placed his finger, touching the student’s side, then demanded and took the student’s wallet. The suspect left on foot towards West St.     

Suspect’s Description: Black male, 5-8 to 5-9, thin build, wearing dark hoodie sweatshirt.

Friday August 26, 2011 at approximately 11:05 PM

Attempted Armed Robbery:  At approximately 11:05 PM, two students were walking on Hackfeld Rd. near the Hackfeld Parking Lot when they were confronted by a black male riding a bicycle and carrying an aluminum baseball bat. The male demanded the students empty their pockets however the students quickly ran towards the Stoddard plaza. The male left by bicycle south on Hackfeld Rd towards Highland St.      

Suspect’s Description: Black light skinned male, wearing a Halloween mask, white shorts, gray Tee shirt.

Thursday August 25, 2011 at approximately 9:20 PM

Armed Robbery:  At approximately 9:20 PM, two  students were walking on Russell St. near Highland St. when they were confronted by a black male riding a bicycle and carrying a baseball bat. The male demanded the backpack of one of the students. The male suspect took the backpack and left on Russell St towards Elm St.     

Suspect’s Description: Black male, wearing a black mask and clothing.

Approximately 6:00 PM

Armed Robbery: At approximately 6:00 PM, a student was walking along West St. near Elbridge St. when he was confronted and robbed by a black male, in his 20’s. The suspect threatened the student with a screwdriver and then stole the student’s laptop computer and cash.


Suspect’s Description: Black male, skinny, 6 feet in height, approximately 20’s of age, wearing shorts, baseball cap and no shirt.

Approximately 2:30PM

Assault and Battery:  At approximately 2:30 PM, a student walking along the access road near Skull Tomb (corner of Boynton St. & Institute Rd.) was confronted by a group of 4-5 dark skinned youths, approximately 16 – 17 years old.  Comments were exchanged.  One male suspect punched the victim once in the face.  Suspects fled in the direction towards Highland Street.

Suspect’s Description:  4 - 5 dark skinned youths (4 males,  1 female) approximately 16 - 17 years old.

11:20 PM

Attempted Armed Robbery:  At 11:20 PM, a student was walking on West Street near Dayton Street when he was approached by two subjects walking from the opposite direction. Each subject brandished a knife and demanded the student’s wallet. The student was able to flee the scene without further incident. 

Suspect description:

Suspect #1: Mexican or Hispanic male, early 20’s, wearing grey hoodie and dark jeans.

Suspect #2: Mexican or Hispanic male, early 20’s, wearing dark clothing with a red bandana.

3:45 AM

Attempted Armed Robbery:  At 3:45 AM this morning, a group of students walking in the area of the Library Lot on Boynton St. were confronted by a male. The male stated he wanted what was in a box carried by one student and that he had a gun. The robbery attempt was unsuccessful and the suspect fled on a bicycle. WPI officers apprehended the suspect moments later at Dean and Salisbury Street. No gun was found upon search of the suspect.

11:00 PM (approximately)

Armed Robbery:  On 12/8/10, 11:00 PM, a student was walking south on the sidewalk of Russell Street behind Price Chopper when he was approached from behind by two black males who demanded the student’s wallet. The suspects took cash from the wallet and then demanded the victim’s backpack. The suspects left on foot without the backpack when told there were only books inside. Both suspects brandished knives.

 10:15 PM (approximately)

Armed Robbery:  On 12/8/10, 10:15 PM, a student was walking down the stairs/ sidewalk from the Boynton Hill Service Road towards Institute Road, when two black males approached him from behind and demanded the contents of his wallet. One male brandished a knife. After taking cash, the suspects looked into his book bag without taking anything else and then quickly fled. The suspects went to a black sedan parked on Institute Road and fled the area towards Lancaster Street.

Suspect 2: black male, early 20’s, 5’9. Both suspects wearing dark hooded jackets, baggy jeans and deep voices.

Unarmed Robbery:  On Friday October 15, 2010 at approximately 3:00am WPI Police overheard on the Worcester Police scanner a call dispatched to 10 Regent Street for a past unarmed robbery.  Upon arrival at that location officers met with a WPI student who reported the following:  He was walking in the vicinity of Salisbury and Dean Street when the last thing he remembers is being hit in the back of the head.  The student indicated he was disoriented and called a friend who immediately realized the student was in distress, picked up the student bringing him back to 10 Regent Street.  The students wallet containing cash and credit cards were taken. The student declined to go to the hospital at that time but assured police he would do so if needed.

Assault with a Dangerous Weapon- On Tuesday October 5, 2010 at approximately 1:43PM two WPI students arrived at the WPI Police Station to report the following information:

On Saturday October 2, 2010 at approximately 11:30PM approximately fifteen WPI students were within an off campus apartment located at Fruit and Dayton Street.  A group of unknown individuals entered the apartment and stole a student’s laptop who resides at that location.  Two of the individuals who allegedly stole the laptop were confronted outside by the victim and his friend.  One of the suspects pulled out of his pocket what appeared to be a small black semi-automatic handgun.  The two WPI students immediately retreated from the situation.  The two suspects returned to the Fruit and Dayton Street location and stood outside yelling and brandishing a firearm and knife.  The suspects entered a second apartment with unknown occupants for a short period of time and then left the area.  Worcester Police responded.

Suspects are described as follows: Hispanic or light skinned African American – 5’6 - 5’8 in height approx. 14-15 years old, thin build, wearing a grey or green fitted hat, grey hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, possibly braces on his teeth and brandished a pistol. The second subject – A Hispanic male 5’5 - 5’6 medium build, 14 -15 years old, wearing a black and red outfit, red and black hat, carrying a black backpack.

Unarmed  Robbery: A WPI male student was walking north on Boynton Street near the intersection on Institute Road when he noticed a group of 5-6 males wearing "hoodies" and baggy pants two from the group approached the victim and one punched the victim in the face causing a bloody nose and knocking his glasses off.  They demanded the victim empty his wallet but ran off before that happened.

B&E/Larceny From A Motor Vehicle – Between February 15^th and February 22^nd there have been 3 vehicles broken into within two of our campus lots and one from the Gateway Garage . In two of the break-ins GPS Mapping Devices were stolen.  The third vehicle had a toolbox stolen with an assortment of tools within.  In at least two of the incidents the items stolen were left in the vehicles in plain view.

Robbery - On Friday afternoon at approximately 12:45PM Worcester Police Dispatcher reports they had an armed Robbery of Bank of America and a most recent robbery of a cab at 12:45PM on Bowdoin Street.  It was reported that the suspect fled toward WPI and both Worcester Police and State Police were tracking the suspect with dogs toward WPI.

Robbery -  On Thursday morning October 29, 2009 at approximately 3:00AM a WPI student was walking on campus by Alden Hall. He was approached by an unknown male, was punched in the face and his wallet containing $40 in cash along with ID's and credit cards were taken. The suspect was last seen fleeing in the direction of West Street toward Institute Road.

Suspect is described as follows:  Black Male, husky build, very tall wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt, dark clothing with 2-3 days growth facial hair.

B&E/Larceny from motor vehicles.  Between October 12, 2009 and October 14, 2009 there have been 2 B&E’s into motor vehicles, 2 attempted B&E’s into motor vehicles, and 1 larceny from a motor vehicle. Two were from the Higgins House lot, one from the exit road-Morgan, and two from peripheral streets.

Suspicious Person:  On Monday September 21, 2009 a student reports she had parked her vehicle on the service road at Salisbury Estates and was walking toward her apartment when she was approached by an individual riding on a bicycle.  The subject repeatedly asked her for a dollar while continuously following her on his bicycle. As the student hurried toward her apartment, the subject in a louder voice yelled expletives at the student.  WPI Police were notified and responded to the scene.

Armed Robbery:  On Friday September 18, 2009 a male student reports he was walking on Trowbridge Road when a white male wearing a brown and orange flannel shirt and jeans, approached him and demanded money.  According to the student, the suspect partially displayed what appeared to be a knife.  Money was handed over to the suspect, who then fled toward Highland Street. Once the student sought safety, both Worcester Police and WPI Police were notified.

Larceny/Suspicious Person: On Wednesday February 18, 2009 a female student reports an unknown male following her as she was walking from Highland Street onto Schussler Road. When the suspect closed his distance to approximately (5) feet, she dropped her book bag and ran toward Riley Hall and notified WPI Police. No words were spoken. Upon the police retrieving her book bag an inventory was conducted by the student and a red Coach wristlet that contained approximately $10-$15 was reported missing.

Attempted Assault:  On  Saturday February 14, 2009 a female student reports she was walking down Dean Street when a white male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt approached her from behind and attempted to grab her.  The student broke free, ran and notified police.

Unarmed/Armed Robbery and Attempted Unarmed Robbery:  On Thursday February 12, 2009 two separate incidents occurred.  Both incidents involved students walking on Institute Road.  In the first incident, the student was approached from behind and knocked to the ground and robbed.  The second incident, the student was chased and ran, making his way to an emergency callbox and alerting campus police.

Break/Entering-Dwelling – On Sunday November 9, 2008 at approximately 10:22pm WPI Police were notified by the residents, (WPI Student’s) that their apartment located at 171 Highland Street had been broken into.  It was reported upon their return home the glass portion of the door was smashed, along with some vandalism within the apartment.  Items reported missing – camera, iPod and a laptop. 

Worcester Police responded and filed the necessary reports prior to WPI Police being notified.   Information was gathered by police after speaking with neighbors regarding a possible person of interest.

Armed Robberies – Becker Campus Police inform the WPI Police on November 3^rd via Safety Alert the following information:  On Saturday November 1^st between the hours of midnight and 130am three armed robberies occurred in the Becker College vicinity.  In all three incidents a six inch knife was displayed.  In one incident a gun was also shown.

Suspects: Hispanic male operating a tan older model import vehicle 4 door sedan.  A second vehicle with two Hispanic female’s passengers in a gray or silver Ford Explorer with tinted windows.  The male was wearing a black jacket and multi-colored fitted baseball hat.  One of the females was wearing a yellow shirt.

3:20 AM – Early Morning

Break/Entering into a Dwelling – At approximately 3:20am on Wednesday October 8, 2008 the rear door of a residential home was forced open.  The owners were within the house during the time of the break and the house was alarmed.  A two foot tall Tiffany lamp that was located just inside the rear door was taken.  Both WPD and WPI Police did a complete search of the area for suspects and evidence.

No one was hurt, no injuries reported.

Suspects:  No suspects were seen or observed, vehicle taillights were observed at a distance in the area.

During the early morning hours on Sunday, September 21,2008, a Becker College student was stabbed to death and a second Becker student was slashed in the arm suffering a nonlife-threatening injury. According to the Worcester Telegram and Gazette, a fight broke out outside of an apartment located on North Ashland Street near Dix Street.The paper reported that there may have been uninvited guests at a party at this location prior to the incident which may have led to the fight and stabbing.

Larceny From A Motor Vehicle – Over the past two weeks there has been approximately four vehicles broken into. Vehicles have been targeted in both our campus lots and the peripheral streets surrounding the campus property. The targeted item has been portable GPS mapping devices.
