Dramatic Measures Necessary for Ensuring Access to Higher Education

A perfect storm is gathering, aimed at thousands of college students who may not be able to rise above it in time to achieve their dreams of getting a higher education.

While a few of the nation’s wealthiest colleges have expanded financial aid, the vast majority of students may find it far more difficult this summer to obtain the loans they need.

The primary reason for this crisis is the turmoil in the credit markets, which has caused many higher education lenders to close up shop or raise rates and credit requirements beyond the reach of many families.
