A Note of Sympathy to Drexel University on the loss of President Constantine Papadakis

To the Drexel University Community:

The trustees, faculty, staff, and students of Worcester Polytechnic Institute join you in mourning the death and celebrating the life of President Constantine Papadakis.

The record of his distinguished leadership at Drexel is clear and compelling. The growth in size, complexity, and quality that he led during his 13 years as your president was evident to all of us in leadership positions in higher education. Under his leadership Drexel moved quickly to become a model institution, focusing on the important, in both theory and practice, and richly building community both on and off campus.

I had come to know Taki following my appointment as President of WPI in 2004. He was a stimulating contributor to our Association of Independent Technological Universities, and a gracious and good friend. He and Mrs. Papadakis were wonderful ambassadors for Drexel during his presidency.

Words cannot mitigate the enormity of your loss. You have our deepest sympathy.

Yours sincerely,

Dennis D. Berkey, Ph.D.
