Cross-registration at Consortium Colleges

Students at WPI may choose to cross-register for one course per semester at area colleges that are members of the Colleges of Worcester Consortium. Courses taken at the other colleges count as 1/3 unit here at WPI, even though they are semester-long courses.

A list of courses available at Consortium colleges is available in the Registrar's Office, Academic Advising, and at the Library. It's also available on the Consortium Web site.

Rules and Procedures for Cross-registration

  • Students are limited to one course per semester at another college.
  • Students are responsible for planning their schedule and for getting to and from classes at other campuses. The Consortium Shuttle makes scheduled stops on campus in front of Sanford Riley Hall for students wishing to travel to these campuses.
  • A student wanting to cross-register should pick up a Consortium Cross-registration Form from the Projects and Registrar's Office or Academic Advising Office. This form needs to be completed by the student and signed by staff in both the Projects and Registrar's Office and the Office of Academic Advising. The student must then take the form to the other college, where the registrar must sign in order to complete the registration. To cross-register for a closed course at that college, the course instructor course must sign.
  • To drop a cross-registered course, the student must complete a Consortium drop/withdrawal form at the registrar's office on the other campus. This process is subject to the normal withdrawal period of that college, not WPI. Students are encouraged to consult the Consortium Academic Calendar for a list of applicable deadlines.

Questions about cross-registration should be directed to the Projects and Registrar's Office or to the Office of Academic Advising.
