The Leading Edge Series

The Leading Edge Series is three-part, comprehensive leadership program designed to provide WPI students with an opportunity to not only explore their leadership potential but also gain practical skills and valuable knowledge that will impact their daily lives.

The Emerging Leader

Open to all WPI students and typically held during B-term, the seven-part Emerging Leader series explores a wide variety of leadership topics that include the following:

  • Leadership Styles
  • Group Dynamics
  • Role Modeling and Ethical Decision Making
  • Goal Setting
  • Vision
  • Delegation
  • Motivation
  • Problem Solving
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Diversity Awareness
  • Time Management and Wellness

Students who attend six of the seven workshops will receive a leadership certificate of completion.

Watch your inbox—an email is sent during A-Term with registration information. The series is held during B-Term.

The Advanced Leader

For students who have completed the Emerging Leader series (or who have equivalent hands-on leadership experience), the Advanced Leader series explores the Social Change Model of Leadership. In addition to examining the components of the model—consciousness of self, congruence, commitment, collaboration, common purpose, controversy with civility, and citizenship—participants define and develop a personal mission statement as well as plan and implement a community service project.

Check your messages—an email is sent during C-Term with information on how to apply. The series is held during D-Term.

The Legacy Leader

Designed for select students who have completed the Advanced Leader series, the Legacy Leader program is an opportunity for student leaders to create a personal leadership legacy. Each week, participants discuss and reflect on such topics as facilitation, mentoring, and personal growth. And, throughout the year, they apply the knowledge and skills they gain to enact positive change.
