The Leading Edge Series

The Leading Edge Series is a comprehensive leadership program designed to provide participants an opportunity to explore their own leadership potential and gain skills and knowledge that will impact their lives daily.

The Emerging Leader

The Leading Edge Series for the Emerging Leader is a seven-part series held during B-Term that is open to all students. You'll learn about a number of different topics through the program including: Leadership Styles, Group Dynamics, Role Modeling and Ethical Decision Making, Goal Setting, Vision, Delegation, Motivation, Problem Solving, Conflict Resolution, Diversity Awareness, and Time Management and Wellness. Students who attend six of the seven workshops received a leadership certificate of completion. The deadline to apply for the 2012 Emerging Leader Series has passed. Information regarding the program in the next academic year will be available during the summer.

The Advanced Leader

The second part of the Leading Edge Series develops advanced leaders. The series, held during D-Term, is based upon the Social Change Model of Leadership. Each week, the series uses experiential learning and reflection to discuss one of the components of the model. The series introduces the model, as participants discuss consciousness of self, congruence, commitment, collaboration, common purpose, controversy with civility, and citizenship. Throughout the series, participants define and develop a personal mission statement and plan and implement a community service project. Applications for the 2012 Advanced Leader Series are available starting December 1, 2012 on TechSync and are due by February 28, 2013.

The Legacy Leader

The third part of the Leading Edge Series is for students who have completed the Advanced Leader tier. The series, held though out the year, is focused on individuals establishing a leadership legacy. Weekly, participants discuss and reflect on facilitation, mentoring, and personal growth. The series provides opportunities for leaders to apply the skills and knowledge they gained through the Leading Edge program. To apply, e-mail wpileadership@wpi.edu for more information.
