Traditions & Events

With the university’s dynamic fraternity and sorority life, there’s always something going on at WPI.

Move-in Day

Each year, fraternity and sorority members pitch in to help move students into their residence halls. It’s one of the many ways members lend a hand to the campus community.

Greek Carnival

Hosted during New Student Orientation, Greek Carnival—which features a variety of fun activities like mini-golf, inflatables, and giveaways—gives fraternity and sorority members the opportunity to reconnect after a summer apart and meet the newest arrivals to the WPI campus.

Greek Week

Greek Week is full of entertaining events like comedy shows, trivia tournaments, and talent contests—and is designed to promote pride in fraternity and sorority membership. Chapters compete to be named Greek Week winners, which earns them not only bragging rights but also the coveted Silver Bowl.

Float Parade

Presented by WPI’s fraternities and sororities, the float parade showcases their chapter pride, not to mention their float-building skills. It is one of the highlights of WPI’s Homecoming, especially for alumni who look forward to seeing their chapters represented.

Foundations New Member Retreat

This leadership conference, established by the Greek Alumni Council , offers workshops for alumni, chapter leaders, and new members.

Greek Leaders Institute (GLI)

Chapter presidents and leaders from the Interfraternity (IFC) and Panhellenic councils spend a weekend building relationships with one another and developing a vision for WPI’s fraternity and sorority community.

Work on Worcester (WOW)

Hundreds of fraternity and sorority members, along with WPI students unaffiliated with a chapter, perform rewarding community service at locations across the city of Worcester.

Blood Drives

Each year, both the fraternity and sorority councils host blood donation drives for the WPI community to benefit the American Red Cross.

Community Service Day

Sponsored by WPI’s Community Service Center, this day of service places fraternity and sorority members in the neighborhoods surrounding WPI, where they clean up trash and demonstrate their commitment to the city of Worcester.

Fraternity/Sorority Recognition Awards

This awards program recognizes the best and brightest of WPI's fraternity and sorority chapters.
