Reinventing the Healthcare Delivery System for the Future

The Healthcare Delivery Institute (HDI) at WPI brings together top faculty and students in engineering, science, and business to solve one of the nation’s toughest problems – delivering high-quality healthcare to a growing number of people while controlling costs.

We work on practical research projects and engage in thought leadership with industry, healthcare providers, payers, and government and other academic organizations to reinvent the healthcare delivery system for the future. Our vision is a system that extends from the hospital and beyond to clinics, homes, and mobile healthcare delivery, where technology and process innovation can empower patients, reduce costs, and increase productivity.

The new model for healthcare delivery is not confined within the walls of a hospital or a doctor’s office. Our work focuses on what this new healthcare system needs to look like in the future, and what tools, technologies, and processes will be required to support it.
