Vera T. Tice
- Managing Director
Healthcare Delivery Institute at WPI
As founding Managing Director, Vera is establishing and leading the Healthcare Delivery Institute at WPI. She is responsible for the overall strategy and leadership of the institute. Tice is a strategic and operational leader with a progressive career in building, leading, and advising organizations engaged or investing in research and development for the healthcare, medical device, and mobile telecommunications industries. She is an expert in research and development of new technology-based systems, products, and services to innovate and improve healthcare across the continuum of care (acute, long term, home health and hospice, community, remote and mobile).
Prior to joining WPI, Tice held positions as chief operating officer, vice president, and senior director with healthcare technology companies and led her own consulting company. She has also held various senior management and engineering positions in research and development with Nokia and Hewlett-Packard's Medical Products Group, now Philips Healthcare. Tice holds a master of science in electrical and computer engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a bachelor of engineering with high honor in electrical and computer engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology. She completed international executive management and general management leadership development programs at Nokia and Hewlett-Packard, respectively.

Susan M. Milkman
- Administrative Assistant
Sue Milkman has over 20 years’ experience in administrative support at WPI. She supports the Healthcare Delivery Institute and is currently the Faculty Staff Advisor for Alpha Gamma Delta Zeta Zeta Chapter. Outside of WPI, she has been involved with the Hardwick Youth Center for the past 9 years.

Joseph Gargano
- Graduate Assistant for the Healthcare Delivery Institute
Joseph Gargano will graduate from WPI with a Master of Science Information Technology degree in May 2012. He is a technology guru who enjoys helping others master any type of technology. At HDI, he develops web content and manages leadership events, including technical support, logistics, support, promotion, planning, and setup. While a student, he also works at YouInc., a non-profit agency that offers human services to more than 8,000 children, adolescents, and families each year in Central Massachusetts. He maintains databases, designs and codes HTML for use in Profiler EMR, and creates and designs Crystal reports for clinicians and managers. Previously, he worked at Simmons College as a technical assistant, designing a comprehensive software training program supporting a 1,400 end-user community across 20 training sessions each month. His career goal is to work with others to make healthcare more affordable and accessible in the U.S. and globally through the application of technology. He holds a BS in business administration and management from Emmanuel College.
