Vera Tice

 Vera Tice is the Founding Managing Director and a co-founder of the Healthcare Delivery Institute (HDI) at WPI. She is responsible for the overall strategy and leadership of the Institute. Tice also serves as an expert and advisor to U.S. and foreign organizations investing in R&D and initiatives to globally advance healthcare. These include the Wellcome Trust based in the United Kingdom and the Networks of Centres of Excellence of Canada. Tice has a depth of knowledge and experience in business and technology, as well as a track record of innovation and managing a portfolio of R&D for large global technology companies. Her areas of expertise include acute and post-acute care, systems engineering, digital health and telehealth, healthcare informatics, patient monitoring, R&D, consulting, and others.

An executive and engineer, Tice's career has been concentrated on leading businesses and technical organizations with a focus on engineering the future of healthcare. She has held senior leadership, management, engineering, and consulting roles in industry (healthcare, medical device, mobile telecommunications) and academic (research, R&D, education) sectors. She has an accomplished record building, leading, and advising industry, academic, and government organizations bringing technology-based innovations that span the care continuum from concept to market.

Prior to joining WPI in 2011, Tice held positions as chief operating officer, vice president, and senior director with healthcare technology companies (Enmar Health, HealthWyse) and led her own consulting company. She has also held various senior management and engineering positions in research and development with Nokia and Hewlett-Packard's Medical Products Group, now Philips Healthcare. Tice holds a master of science in electrical and computer engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a bachelor of engineering with high honor in electrical and computer engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology. She completed international executive management and general management leadership development programs at Nokia and Hewlett-Packard, respectively.
