As founding Managing Director, Vera is establishing and leading the Healthcare Delivery Institute (HDI) at WPI to create the future of healthcare delivery through research, education, and partnerships with industry, other academic, and government organizations. She is responsible for the overall strategy and leadership of the institute. In addition, she is a Strategic and Technical Advisor to the Wellcome Trust, a global healthcare-focused foundation and the largest in the United Kingdom.
Tice is an established strategic and operational leader with a progressive career in building, leading, and advising organizations engaged or investing in research and product development for the regulated healthcare, medical device, and mobile telecommunications industries. She co-founded the Healthcare Delivery Institute and a remote healthcare technology company and held various senior business and R&D engineering leadership positions at both startup and Fortune 100 / Global Fortune 500 technology companies. She has established and led businesses and large, complex technology teams to bring new innovations that span the care continuum from concept to market. In addition, Tice has served as an expert and advisor to organizations investing in innovations to enable affordable and quality healthcare in countries around the globe. Her areas of expertise include acute and post-acute care, remote healthcare, systems engineering, healthcare informatics, patient monitoring, consulting, and others.
Prior to joining WPI, Tice held positions as chief operating officer, vice president, and senior director with healthcare technology companies (Enmar Health, HealthWyse) and led her own consulting company. She has also held various senior management and engineering positions in research and development with Nokia and Hewlett-Packard's Medical Products Group, now Philips Healthcare. Tice holds a master of science in electrical and computer engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a bachelor of engineering with high honor in electrical and computer engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology. She also completed international executive management and general management leadership development programs at Nokia and Hewlett-Packard, respectively.
