2011 Research Magazine
Music blends with technology on the cover of the current issue of WPI Research, as it does in the work of faculty members in WPI’s renowned music research program. The products of that work include the Virtual Orchestra, a technology used in more than 200,000 performances worldwide and which is helping revitalize opera and musical theatre; the Digital Choral Folder, which will be a boon to choruses everywhere as it replaces mountains of sheet music; and the Jazz History Database, which is helping preserve a multimedia record of the rich history of jazz in New England. See the story "Music by the Numbers" for more.
