Schedule a Page or Module to Turn On and Off
This tutorial will guide you through the process of turning a page or module on or off. Pages and modules can be turned on or off in both the old and new designs (however this tutorial uses the new design). Changing the appearance shceudle of a page or module is useful when the information in one is only applicable for a limitied time.
Display or Hide a Page
To turn a page on/off, first click on the “Edit Page” Reddot in the top left corner on the page you would like to hide.
Then right click anywhere on the page body and click on “Edit Linking” in the menu that appears.
A new window titled "Edit Linking/Appearance Schedule' will appear. To turn the page off, click on the icon that looks like a small clock.
Please note: Clicking on the red 'x' icon will disconnect the page, completely removing it from your site. Be careful not to accidentally click this button.
To turn the page on on a certain date enter date and time when you want the page to be automatically scheduled to turn on. If you choose a date previous to the current one, the page will be on as it regularly would. If you set a future date, the page will turn on on that day and time.
You can also set a page to turn off on a certain date, as shown in the example below. As with turning a page on, you can select any date and time for the page to turn off, after which it will no longer appear in the left-hand site menu.
You may also set both an on and off date for the same page. For example a page could be scheduled to turn on 8:00 AM on July 1, 2012 and turn off on 8:00 AM July 31, 2012.
Then click "OK" on the "Edit Appearance Schedule" window and click "OK" on the "Edit Linking/Appearance Schedule". Now, in the example, your page will not publish out live on the live server or website.
Display or Hide a Module
This same procedure can apply t any module within the CMS. To display or hide a specific module, follow the same basic procedure as above:
- Click on the "Edit Module Name" Reddot for the module you would like to set appearance on
- Right click anywhere within the module area and select "Edit Linking" from the menu
- Click on the clock icon to set dates and times
- Enter the dates and times for start and/or end date
- Click "OK" on both windows
You hve now set an individual module to display or hide on your page.
Change Display Settings to Show Hidden Pages and Modules
Depending on your display settings, you may have your system setup to “NOT” show hidden pages or modules. You can change your settings so that they do show up, in case you would like to turn on a hidden module or make some edits to one.
To turn that feature to view hidden pages/modules on or off, go to “Settings” in the top right corner of your screen.
Click on the link for "Display Settings".
Check off the box that states “Ignore Appearance Schedule” if you want your hidden pages or modules to still show up in your system.
Otherwise, you can uncheck it if you do not want hidden pages and modules to be displayed.
