Whether you want space to build a robot, to explore a product’s limits, or want to hear what others say about your potential next big idea, WPI offers spaces and events for creativity and for bouncing around ideas. WPI’s multidisciplinary approach to collaboration means campus spaces for experimentation and discovery are open to all students and faculty. From pitch competitions to professional development workshops, we give you the freedom to explore and create and the support to get you going.

Foisie Innovation Studio

The Foisie Innovation Studio is the place where WPI’s distinctive project-based approach comes to life. In addition to the 140-bed Messenger Residence Hall, the Foisie Innovation Studio houses maker spaces with rapid prototyping, a robotics lab, a Global Lab with a video recording suite, a two-story video feature wall, active learning classrooms, and even a café for refueling with pretzels and smoothies.

Across campus, students work and collaborate in spaces designed to encourage experimentation and new discoveries. Our labs have the materials and equipment where students can make things happen.

Student Clubs

WPI students know the opportunities available to them, and they take advantage of being on a campus full of motivated and driven students and faculty.

Gordon Library Offers Community Spaces to Collaborate

The library offers plenty of space for working with groups. The Flexible Learning and Instruction Place (FLIP) on the third floor is devoted to collaborative study space and has moveable tables, rolling whiteboards, and Ethernet cables.

Anyone in the community is welcome to explore Studio @ Gordon on the ground floor which is an active learning and exploration space. Groups and individuals may use whiteboards, movable and varied furniture, and light supplies for idea generation, making, and building.
