Professor Billiar Elected to BMES Board

Biomedical Engineering Society names new board members

Professor Kristen Billiar was elected to the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) Board of Directors for a three-year terms which commenced at the BMES Annual Meeting this week. The mission of the BMES Board of Directors is to guide the Society towards its vision of being the world's leading society of professionals devoted to developing and using engineering and technology to advance human health and well-being. Dr. Billiar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at WPI, a member of the ASME Bioengineering Division Board of Directors, and a Former Fullbright Fellow. He is the Director of the Tissue Mechanics and Mechanobiology Laboratory which focuses on harnessing the mechanical properties of tissues and how cells respond to their mechanical environment for the development of functional engineered tissues.
