7th Annual IEEE Spark Party was another Huge Success!
Eleven ECE Students received an IEEE Power & Energy Scholarship!
Entertainment by Faculty and Students Created a Memorable Evening for All
The 7th Annual IEEE Spark Party took place on November 5, 2012 in Newell Hall, AK116. The successful evening included demonstration by the ECE Faculty, student performances and dinner sponsored by the ECE Department.
The evening was hosted by Sokol Koli and Caitlin Dragun, the president of ECE's IEEE Student Chapter. Sokol and Caitlin gave the SPARK party welcome and then introduced the Quartet, who sang the National Anthem as well as WPI’s Audiophiles who sang the Alma Mater. The evening was filled with entertainment from Professors O’Rourke, Bitar, McNeill, Thompson and Emanuel as well as WPI students.
In addition to the night's festivities, Professor Alex Emanuel presented certificates to eleven ECE students for the IEEE Power and Energy Scholarship (PES). The PES Scholarship Plus Initiative recognizes undergraduate students who are interested in power and energy engineering careers. These students are considered high achievers with strong GPAs.
The following WPI students were selected:
Ali Akhtar, Jeffrey Blanco, Anthony Cangello, James Corsini, Matthew Coughlin, Adrian Delphia, Mohammad Ghani, Jeremy Giguere, Jordyn Rombola, Christopher Sontag and Patrick Sullivan. Congratulations to these eleven ECE students for this amazing achievement! (read more about the IEEE Power and Energy Scholarship)
The ECE Department would like to thank all the students who contributed to the entertainment during the SPARK party. These student performances were Lighting the Fire-The Grateful Heart, I got Rhythm, Talk Show with Fei Peng, Fivolts Drowsiness Control System and the Grad Students Band.
The evening came to a close with the giant Tesla Coils sparking in the dark of the classroom, illuminating the famous "SPARK" which represents the evenings' theme.
A very special thank you to all involved who made this evening such a memorable event!
