WPI Students Interviewed by NECN Worcester News Tonight

WPI Invention Benefits the Community

WPI seniors Maria Alexandra Rangel and Thomas Hunter invented their own dock lighting system, which was installed Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the Donahue Rowing Center on Lake Quinsigamond in Shrewsbury, MA.

The dock lighting system is powered by solar. During the day the solar panels are charged from the sun’s energy, which then allows the installed solar lights to automatically turn on once it’s dark. This will benefit the visibility for all boaters who use the dock in the early morning or evening hours. Maria and Thomas worked on this project with the assistance of WPI ECE adjunct professor Stephen Bitar.

Congratulations to everyone involved.
