WPI Engineering Celebrates National Engineers Week

WPI will celebrate National Engineers Week (EWeek) February 17-23.

WPI celebrates National Engineers Week (EWeek) to raise engineering awareness and promote recognition among students, teachers, and parents of the importance of a technical education and an engineering career in order to provide a diverse and vigorous engineering workforce. Each year, Eweek reaches thousands of engineering schools, businesses, and community groups across the U.S.

According to Dale Jans, P.E., Co-Chair, EWeek 2013, “This year’s Engineers Week theme—Celebrate Awesome—is a call to celebrate the people in the profession and all they do. This especially resonates with me. When I think about future generations, especially my kids and grandkids, I want them to know how awesome it is what engineers do and how an engineering career can help shape the world in a truly meaningful way. Engineers innovate. They create. They solve problems. They work together to make the world better. Engineers are key to our health, safety, and happiness. And when kids and youth get to experience it first-hand, they discover for themselves how amazing engineering is. Going forward, this is going to be even more true, as engineers develop solutions to such problems as food security, energy sustainability, infrastructure, and global climate change. That’s why the National Engineers Week Foundation – and its partners like NCEES and Lockheed Martin – are dedicated to attracting and cultivating the next generation of engineers.”
