Yan Wang

I am assistant professor of Mechanical Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Here at WPI, m y main responsibilities are teaching and research. I have taught materials processing and materials for electrochemical energy system. I enjoy teaching and interacting with students because I like to impart m y knowledge/experience to the students. At the same time, I can also absorb different knowledge and culture from the students.

Currently, my lab focuses on the study of new electrodes and materials for energy storage, including lithium ion batteries, supercapacitors, flow batteries, battery safety and recycle, and fundamental electrochemistry. This research can lead to energy storage with high energy density, high power density, long life, low cost, and high safety.

Research Interests

  • Lithium ion battery
  • Flow battery
  • Supercapacitor
  • Battery recycle
  • Battery safety
