Continued Growth Expected for Robotics Engineering Employment

According to the US Department of Labor’s O*Net Online, employment growth in robotics engineering is expected to be in the range of 7 percent-13 percent through 2018, with about 50,200 projected job openings from 2008 to 2018. Median wages in 2010 were $43.40 hourly and $90,270 annually. About 183,000 people were employed as robotics engineers as of 2008.

A survey of WPI’s Robotics Engineering Class of 2013 reveals that of the 39 graduates who did not continue their education, 34 found employment. Average salaries for these graduates (with a BS degree) is $65,834 and (with an MS degree) $110,000. See the chart below for details.
