WPI Hosts FIRST District Robotics Competition

2,000 High School Students Compete in a Robotics Competition

WPI recently hosted the FIRST District Robotics Competition for high schools. The competition was composed of 2,000 high school students from 40 teams in New England. The students were challenged to build a robot capable of scooping up, passing and shooting 24-inch balls through targets, as well as holding up to being smashed into by other robots and maneuvering around a court during the basketball-style competition. The robots were controlled by joysticks used by the students.
