Simple Harmonic Motion Sings for Charity

WORCESTER, Mass. Simple Harmonic Motion, WPI's male a cappella group, and Clark Counterpoints, Clark University's female a capella group, will sponsor "Worcester Harmony: Chords for a Cause" at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, in Riley Commons. Admission is $5. The program will also feature Clark's Jazz Vocal Ensemble, the Clark Bars, a coed a capella group, and the WPI Jazz Band. Proceeds will benefit the Mustard Seed.

Formerly known as the WPI Baker's Dozen, Simple Harmonic Motion changed its name in 1994 when it became student-directed. The group, whose repertoire ranges from the pop music of the 50s and 60s to modern a cappella and rock, recently released its first CD Sing 'till it Hertz.. The CD is available at Tatnuck Bookseller @ WPI and at Tatnuck Bookseller Marketplace, 335 Chandler St., Worcester.

  • Brandon Gaylord, a freshman majoring in biotechnology from St. Paul, Minn. (tenor)
  • Christopher Hamel, a senior majoring in mechanical engineering from Orange, Mass. (bass)
  • Alan Head, a senior majoring in mechanical engineering with aerospace interests from Clio, Mich. (bass)
  • Jason J. LeBlanc, a freshman majoring in biology with a concentration in genetics from Sanford, Maine (tenor)
  • Michael Malchiodi, a junior majoring in mechanical engineering from East Lyme, Conn. (bass)
  • Aldie Mincey, a sophomore majoring in management information systems from Savannah, Ga. (tenor)
