WPI/UMass Symposium to Spotlight Advances in Tissue Regeneration Research

WPI will host on April 4 the second annual WPI/UMass Symposium on Tissue Regeneration, which will focus on biosciences and engineering technology at the forefront of wound healing and tissue regeneration. Dr. Peter Johnson, founder, president, and CEO of Scintellix LLC of Raleigh, N.C., will give the keynote address. Other speakers will represent WPI, UMass Medical School, Harvard Medical School, and the State University of New York at Buffalo.

What

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) will host the second annual WPI/University of Massachusetts Symposium on Tissue Regeneration. Presentations will focus on biosciences and engineering technology at the forefront of wound healing and tissue regeneration. The forum is part of WPI’s 2007 BEI (Bioengineering Institute) Symposium Series.

Dr. Peter Johnson, founder, president, and CEO of Scintellix LLC, a nationwide network of biomedical consultants based in Raleigh, N.C., will give the keynote address. Other speakers will include doctors who specialize in cardiovascular health, pediatrics, and dermatology as well as professors and researchers from WPI, UMass Medical School, Harvard Medical School, and the State University of New York at Buffalo.

The tissue regeneration symposium coincides with the April opening of WPI’s Life Sciences and Bioengineering Center at Gateway Park, an 11-acre mixed-use campus adjacent to downtown Worcester being developed by WPI and the Worcester Business Development Corp. The new four-story, 124,600-square-foot center will house WPI’s graduate research programs in biology and biotechnology, biomedical engineering, chemistry and biochemistry, and chemical engineering, as well as BEI, WPI’s Corporate and Professional Education Division, and an incubator facility run by Massachusetts Biomedical Initiatives.
