What

Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s (WPI) will be the epicenter of video game development as gaming students from colleges and universities all over New England will converge upon Worcester for the second annual three-day GameJam, sponsored by WPI’s Game Development Club. During GameJam, teams of aspiring video game developers will create video games over the course of 24 hours, in three days. Participants have the option of entering the game they create at WPI into Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling’s 38 Studios – a Maynard, Mass.-based entertainment and video game development company – for its second annual Massachusetts Game Challenge (MGC). The MGC invites students from colleges and universities across the United States and Canada to show off their talents in a one-of-a-kind video game design contest featuring the 38 Studios mascot, Munch, and his alter ego, Mean Munch. Last year, a team of WPI first-year students won third place in the contest. WPI launched its first-in-the-nation Interactive Media and Game Development major four years ago.
