February 1 COVID Dashboard Update
Department(s):
COVID-19 ResourcesAs anticipated, given the ongoing surge of COVID infections nationwide, WPI has seen an uptick in positive cases within our own community. Although the numbers reported today include test results returned over a two-day span, they are concerning. In order to stay together, we must continue to work together to create a “protective bubble” on campus.
WPI’s data clearly shows the risk of being a “close contact”—being within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 cumulative minutes over a 24-hour period, even while wearing facial coverings. Because you may not know someone is infected, gathering with anyone besides your roommate or your housemate—even with a face covering, even while distanced—is prohibited during the Stay In Place status. This applies to everyone, regardless of whether they live in residence halls, local apartments, or fraternity/sorority housing. We ask that you keep your personal bubble small, and review the Student Code of Conduct COVID Addendum, which states that gatherings are a violation of the code.
Please continue to watch your email for important messages and check the We Are WPI website regularly.
