This message was sent to all students who are Rhode Island residents
On August 4, Massachusetts Governor Baker announced that Rhode Island has been added to the list of higher risk states that fall within the Massachusetts travel order.
Outlined below is a change to your arrival procedures. Please read this message and the checklist linked below carefully.

This change means that residents of Rhode Island will need to have received a negative COVID PCR test within 72 hours of arrival to Massachusetts or to plan to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival to Massachusetts.
This means that your instructions for returning to WPI have changed to support your arrival to campus.
You will need to:

  • Complete the Massachusetts Travel Form. This is required by the state.
  • Complete the WPI Travel Requirements Arrangements Form to inform us of your plans to be tested or quarantine before coming to campus. This is mandatory.
  • Provide WPI with a negative COVID result from a test taken no more than 72 hours prior to your arrival to the state.

Please carefully read the checklist for students coming from high-risk states and select instructions for your living situation (off-campus or on-campus/ fraternity or sorority house).
If you live on campus, please note that the date of your pre-arrival test date and move in date may change and will be communicated with you on August 7. All fraternity/sorority members will receive an email with their assigned date for a pre-arrival test.
We understand this is a shift for your planning and we thank you in advance for your flexibility as we work to comply with the state order.
