WPI has seen a recent increase in COVID-19 cases among students and employees, mirroring a national trend. Because of this, we all must remain vigilant to help mitigate the spread of the virus.

All employees and students coming to campus are required to use WPI’s Symptom Tracker every day. This tool adds an essential layer to the university’s COVID-19 response by providing additional information we can use to help protect ourselves and each other. By reporting symptoms, a positive test result, or any close contact with individuals who have tested positive with COVID-19, the university receives critical information that can help detect the onset or progression of COVID-19 symptoms in the community and take measures to prevent further spread.

Lastly, the Symptom Tracker also helps employees get paid for COVID-19—related time off as this tool tracks any COVID-19 time off and ensures personal time won’t be used. If you need to request time off for any kind of COVID-19—related issue, it must be entered in the Symptom Tracker to be recorded accurately.

In addition to daily Symptom Tracker use, regular healthy behaviors remain crucial. Face coverings, social distancing, thorough hand washing, and regular surface disinfecting of workspaces and personal spaces are all actions we can each take to help keep the virus from spreading.

Only entirely remote students and employees who have no campus access are exempt from daily Symptom Tracker use unless they have symptoms, receive a positive COVID-19 test result, or are in close contact. If that happens, they must use the Symptom Tracker so the university can track their time off accurately.
