As WPI moves toward continued reopening of our campus, here's some information about use of the Sports & Recreation Center facilities.
During the academic year, the Sports & Recreation Center was open only to students and was operated on a reservation system to help dedensify the space and allow for social distancing and appropriate cleaning. As the campus quiets down over the summer, we are excited to let you know that, as of June 1, we will reopen the facility for use by:
- Students, faculty, and staff who are working or studying on campus and are in WPI’s summer COVID-19 testing protocol.
- No reservations are required
- Face coverings must be worn at all times inside. These guidelines may change over the summer.
- Locker rooms and showers will be open, but there will be no towel service; anyone who needs a towel must bring their own.
The reopening schedule of the pool has not been determined, due to a lack of available lifeguards. (COVID limitations impacted the certification process statewide.) All other facilities—exercise equipment, basketball courts, indoor and outdoor tracks and fields—will be open for use. Reservations are not required.
The Sports & Recreation Center will be closed through May 31 for maintenance, repairs, and enhanced cleaning. Beginning June 1, normal summer hours will be Monday through Friday, 11 am to 7 pm; the facility is closed on Saturday and Sunday.
While we are eager to fully open the Center to the entire community, we must continue to follow appropriate health and safety protocols. We appreciate your cooperation and ongoing engagement and will update the community as any regulations change.
