Wednesday, September 12th is the first day of K-12 programs on campus for the 2018-2019 academic year! The Office of Pre-collegiate Outreach Programs is working diligently to deliver educational opportunities to encourage underrepresented populations in STEM, with an emphasis of participants from Worcester Public Schools.
· The Girls Robotics Team will offer girls in grades 3-5 an opportunity to explore and discover what robotics is all about. Girls will work together in teams to build and program robots and prepare to compete in a VEX IQ competition!
· Tech Girls is a WPI outreach program that encourages girls (grades 5 & 6) to pursue study and a career in the STEM fields by exposing them to many different fields of science and engineering along with a wealth of positive female role models. During each session, WPI students, faculty, and staff facilitate a wide variety of hands-on activities that promote creativity, problem solving, and teamwork in middle school girls.
· The Girls Who Code Club is a program for girls in grades 7-11 who are interested in learning about computer science and how to impact their community. This program exposes girls to positive female role models with a background in computer science. This is the first session of the year, which focuses on basic coding concepts.
