Dear Colleagues, Students and Staff,
The Mathematical Sciences Department is hosting the first Advancing Women's Impact in Mathematics Symposium, New England (AWIMS) to be held at WPI on Saturday, April 7, 2018. This event is possible thanks to a grant from WPI’s Women Impact Network and the WPI Department of Mathematical Sciences. AWIMS, New England is in cooperation with the Association of Women in Mathematics (AWM).
Our goal is to serve the New England region’s mathematical sciences community by providing a forum for women in the mathematical sciences to network, share research interests, and initiate projects with colleagues and mentors. We aim to foster collaborations by providing exposure through plenary talks, tutorials, contributed talks, panel discussion and a poster session. More information about the symposium can be found at https://www.wpi.edu/c/awims.
This symposium is being organized by WPI Mathematical Sciences post-doctoral scholars, Lucia Carichino, F. Patricia Medina, and Xiaodan Zhou, with the support of senior faculty. We invite those of you who may be interested in participating in this special event to please fill out the application form by February 25, 2018. You will also be asked to indicate your interest in presenting your research work. We do encourage participants at all stages of their mathematics research career to consider presenting. We will be offering lunch and refreshments.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
F. Patricia Medina, on behalf of the AWIMS Organizing Committee
