Hamza Tayebi, Fulbright Research Scholar in Political Science at SUNY Binghamton
In this lecture, Hamza Tayebi will revisit the series of uprisings the MENA region witnessed in 2011 and 2012 in an attempt to assess their power in shaking off archaic political systems. It will shed light on the domestic and foreign challenges facing the process of democratization in the region with a particular focus on the rise of extremism represented by the ISIS. As a Moroccan Fulbright scholar, Hamza Tayebi will particularly provide detailed analytical updates concerning the Moroccan current political landscape, the condition of human rights and prospects of change in the "exceptional" country.
