BIOLOGY & BIOTECHNOLOGY SEMINAR:

"Using nematodes to study complex behaviors and develop technologies"

~ Shreekanth Chalasani, Ph.D. ~

Associate Professor, Molecular Neurobiology Laboratory

Salk Institute for Biological Studies

Hosted by:  Associate Professor Jagan Srinivasan

Abstract:

We use small nervous systems, C. elegans and zebrafish larvae to understand how the nervous system transforms environmental changes into behaviors. Specifically, we leverage bioengineering methods with genetics, imaging, biochemistry reveal links between genes and animal/population behaviors. I will present our studies probing decision-making in the nematode C. elegans and developing new technologies.
