Designing My Future: A STEM Career Expo for Youth and Families

Wednesday, October 16, 2019
5:30 pm to 7:30 pm

Boys and Girls Club of Worcester
Pathway to STEM Career Conversation at 6pm

The event is free and open to the public. Light food will be served. Childcare is available. The dance team from the Boys and Girls Club will perform at 6pm followed immediately by a conversation with STEM professionals.

Q. What is the purpose of the event?

A. There are three goals at Designing My Future:

  • Get people excited about the STEM fields
  • Demystify the pathways into STEM degrees and careers
  • Broaden peoples' conception of what 'counts' as STEM

Q. Who should attend?

A. The short answer: anybody! The wide range of presenting professionals should provide opportunities for engaging conversations for all. Whether you're attending out of career interest or pure curiosity, there will be something for you. No registration is required to attend. Youth are welcome to attend with or without their families

Q. How is the night organized?

A. The main feature will be a convention of STEM professionals from around the region who have agreed to join us to tell their own story about how they got into STEM and share a little bit about their current work. Presenters will be spread throughout the building to talk to attendants and answer their questions. Other features of the event will include:

  • A live panel of STEM professionals aimed at adults and high school students (6:00pm)
  • STEM 'passports' for participants to record what they learn
  • Food and games for youth
