More than 50 executive women who broke the corporate glass ceiling offer surprising insights in an in-the-trenches career guide by Joann S. Lublin, a Pulitzer-Prize-winning journalist for The Wall Street Journal. “Earning It: Hard-Won Lessons from Trailblazing Women at the Top of the Business World” aims to help women find success and deal with overt and subtle gender bias.
In her talk at WPI, Ms. Lublin will share little-known tales from well-known chief executives such as General Motors' Mary Barra, IBM's Ginni Rometty, Mondelez International's Irene Rosenfeld and Hewlett Packard Enterprise's Meg Whitman.
Ms. Lublin created the Journal’s first career column in 1993. “Your Executive Career,’’ her current advice column, appears every month. In 2003, Ms. Lublin was a member of a Journal team awarded the Pulitzer Prize in explanatory reporting for a series of stories that exposed corporate scandals, bringing them to life in compelling narratives. In 2007, she was a finalist for a Loeb Award, the highest honor in business journalism.
WPI's bookstore has copies of the book available for purchase and will be selling copies at the event.
