12:00 pm to 1:20 pm
Floor/Room #:
Hagglund Room

All are welcome to attend, even without advance registration. However, lunch will be ordered only for those who register at least 3 business days in advance. Please bring your own lunch if you did not register by the deadline.

PRESENTERS: Anna Newman and Laura Robinson, Gordon Library; Tricia Stapleton, Social Science & Policy Studies

This workshop will engage participants in learning how they can use Open Educational Resources (OER): freely available, high-quality learning materials that can be downloaded, edited, and shared to better serve all students. During the session, we will discuss trends in commercial textbook cost as an issue of equity in higher education and the potential effectiveness of OER as an alternative. Participants will engage with and critically evaluate OER in a range of disciplines. Tricia Stapleton (Assistant Professor, SSPS) will also share her experience using OER in her teaching.

Participants are asked to bring a laptop/tablet/device so that they can examine and evaluate some OERs during the workshop.

It's understood that some may need to leave early for 1pm commitments.
