The Grad Health and Wellness series is a 4 session series aimed at providing graduate students information, guidance, and resources to improve their health and well being. The sessions will focus on stress reduction, mindfulness, healthy habits and living, recognizing signs of distress in others and ways to intervene, and healthy relationships. The sessions will be led by staff of the Student Development and Counseling Center as well as WPI's Title IX Officer. A free healthy lunch will be provided at each session.
This session of the Health and Wellness series will provide instruction on how to recognize signs of distress in those around you and will offer guidance on when and how one can intervene. This session is particularly important as recent national data has shown that graduate students and postdocs demonstrate significantly higher levels of anxiety and depression compared to the general population and often don't seek the help they need in these situations. It is critical for peers and colleagues to identify when someone around them is in distress and appropriately intervene.
