Kristine Lilly: The Fight for Gender Equity

On Wednesday, March 20th at 5pm in the Campus Center Odeum, WPI Athletics, the Women’s Impact Network and the Office of Talent and Inclusion will be welcoming 3x Olympian and World Cup Champion, Kristine Lilly to campus. She will be joined by University of Massachusetts -Lowell Professor, Jeff Gerson. Together they will be giving a presentation about the US Soccer Women’s National Team’s Fight for Gender Equity.
 
Kristine Lilly’s career with the US Women’s soccer team spans three decades and she is the most capped player (male or female) in the world. She was an impactful member of the 1999 World Cup Championship team that brought national attention to women in sport. She and Professor Gerson, who has written a book on the topic, will be discussing how women’s soccer in the US has helped lead the charge in the fight for gender equity and equal pay today.
